Despite taking the lead no less than three times at Spotland Skolars went down to a 40-20 defeat to Rochdale. After taking an early lead, through Dave Arnot, Skolars were pegged back until Sam Gee scored a converted try on 36 minutes to enable Skolars to take the lead again. Rochdale then scored, just before half-time, to take a 12-10 lead into the break.

Ade Adebisi went over in the 44th minute but Rochdale ran in a further five second half tries with Skolars only having a Neil Thorman converted try to show for their efforts.
