Bev Risman Receives OBE In New Years Honours List

Rugby League legend Bev Risman has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2012 New Years honours for services to Rugby League.

Also Honoured in the list is Leeds Rhinos prop Jamie Peacock, who receives the MBE>

RFL chairman Richard Lewis said: “On behalf of everyone involved in rugby league I would like to congratulate Bev and Jamie on their deserved recognition in the New Year Honours list.

“Bev is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced people in the rugby league world, someone who has worked tirelessly for many years to introduce young people to the sport and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of an OBE.”

Also commenting on the award Skolars director Hector McNeil said “I am privileged to call Bev Risman a personal friend of mine and I cannot thank him enough not only for the part he has played in  developing the game of Rugby League but also the invaluable help and advice he has given to London Skolars over the years. This is a richly deserved award and I would like to congratulate Bev on the behalf of everyone at Skolars.”
