Welcome to one of the fastest growing and most exciting Mini’s Rugby groups in London.
The Mini’s section at London Skolars is an integral part of the club and makes a full contribution to the club and wider London Skolars Community. Our aims are to introduce the game of rugby league to children in a safe and supportive environment, so that they learn, above all, to enjoy the game and play it in the right team spirit. Whilst we aim to be competitive, we measure our success not in trophies won but in the number of children who return to the club season after season, eventually to progress to playing junior rugby and hopefully turning out for our professional First team in years to come.
We currently have in excess of 60 young people registered in our Mini’s section and we welcome all players, both boys and girls of all abilities, from keen novices to potential internationals. Our objective is to instil confidence, determination and self-belief while developing agility, skills, fitness, teamwork and discipline both on and off the field. We aim to encourage players to perform at the best of their abilities, be gracious in victory and respectful in defeat.
We start at Under 7 by playing rugby related games and teaching basic rugby skills – the emphasis is firmly on introducing the FUNdamentals of the sport. As our Mini’s move through the age groups they will learn new skills and become more and more competent with their rugby skills, having lots of fun and making friends for life along the way.
All our players are fortunate enough to be supported by a large selection of keen and committed volunteers who form the network of qualified head coaches, coaches, managers, first aiders and helpers. London Skolars has a strong family and community focused ethos, which has served our club well as we have gone from strength to strength both on and off the sporting field, and parents are very much encouraged to be involved in the life of the club and the Mini’s section in particular.
Training for all Mini’s age groups takes place at the clubs ground at New River Stadium, White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, Wood Green N22 5QW on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12pm.
