Skolars Double Header on Bank Holiday Weekend

Skolars and Rugby League fans traveling down for the Challenge Cup are in for a treat this weekend with two Skolars games scheduled over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The first of these is the ever-popular Friday Night Lights fixture with London Skolars taking on the North Wales Crusaders for the 2nd consecutive year at New River Stadium (kick off 8pm).

With three curtain raiser games and 10 different ales and lagers on offer from 4pm it will be an entertaining evening for fans . See below the schedule of games for the evening.

4:00pm – North v London and Down South Masters

5:30pm – London Skolars U16s v East Leeds U16s

6:00pm – South West London Chargers v Scotland Club XIII

8:00pm London Skolars v North Wales Crusaders

For those fans yet to purchase tickets online discount tickets are still available from the Skolars club shop until 10am tomorrow morning (£10 adults & £5 concession) or on the gate (£12 adult, £6 concession)

The 2nd game to be played on Bank holiday Monday is the re-scheduled game against Keighley Cougars at Pennine Way, Hemel Hempstead (kick off 5pm), following the tragic abandonment of the game on May 3rd at New River. Our thoughts remain with Danny Jones’ family and the support shown by the rugby league community has been truly amazing.

Skolars are offering supporters £5 tickets on the gate at Friday Night Lights for Monday’s fixture or alternatively they can be purchased on the gate at Hemel on the day.

With the Skolars double header and Challenge Cup final this shapes as a great weekend for rugby league fans. For further information on this double header weekend please contact the club on 020 8888 8488.

London Skolars and Wigan Warriors have teamed up to further promote Rugby League in the Capital.

Wigan are one of Rugby League’s most recognizable Clubs having been crowned champions 20 times and lifted the Challenge Cup on 19 occasions.

With a record number of Wembley appearances and London-grown players including Tony Clubb and Dan Sarginson, Wigan have a long and successful history in the Capital and in recent years have grown close to the Skolars through the Capital Challenge matches in 2013 and 2014.

Owned by former London Broncos Chairman Ian Lenagan, Wigan are committed to growing the game across the South East. On Saturday 5th September (3pm) the Warriors will break new ground by becoming the first northern Club to bring a Super League game on the road to London when they host Catalans Dragons at The Den in South Bermondsey.

As part of the agreement Skolars fans will be entitled to 20% off adult match tickets, meaning they can gain admission for just £16 adults and £10 juniors.

“It’s fantastic to see Wigan and London Skolars working together to grow Rugby League in the Capital,” said England international Tony Clubb.

“I believe that the Capital still has plenty to offer and hopefully the two clubs co-operating will help to achieve bigger things.”

To purchase their tickets for Wigan Warriors v Catalans Dragons at The Den, Skolars fans should visit wwrl.co/tickets and use promo code RFL20.

Rugby League fans travelling to London on Friday will be pleased to learn that the Capital will no longer be grid-locked, as the planned tube strike has been called off.

This is great news for Skolars and Rugby League fans traveling from across the UK and London to watch the annual Friday Night Lights pre Challenge Cup fixture. There are 3 curtain raiser games prior to the Kingstone Press League 1 game between London Skolars & North Wales Crusaders that kicks off at 8pm at New River Stadium (N22 5QW). 5:30pm – London Skolars U16s v East Leeds U16s

6:00pm – South West London Chargers v Scotland Club XIII

Friday Night Lights always provides a great atmosphere as fans from many clubs mingle and can either watch the curtain raisers or take advantage of the Real Ale Festival and BBQ that kicks off from 5pm.
