Community Rugby League Returns

19th October 2020

After over seven months with no games, Rugby League made a welcome return to the capital on Saturday. The Challenge Cup final saw Leeds Rhinos defeat Salford City Reds at Wembley Stadium, a game played behind closed doors because of the Covid-19 restrictions.

Saturday also saw the return of the community game to London, with games also being played elsewhere in the country. The 2020 season was put on hold before any Junior sides had started their season, so it had been over a year since they played.

Skolars Under 11s were one of the first teams to play, taking part in the Brixton Festival alongside Medway Dragons, Eastern Rhinos and hosts Brixton Bulls. Our U11s were coached by Welsh international and Skolar Dalton Grant.

Thanks to all volunteers, Skolars’ staff and parents for making the restart possible.

This was the first of six weekends where community games are scheduled between now and the end of November, with Skolars taking part at U11s, U14s, U16s and at open age for our community team.
