The coronavirus pandemic is evolving hourly and affecting all of our lives in small and large ways. London Skolars is committed to keeping our fans, staff, players and your families informed as facts become known to us.
This is the first of what may be numerous club statements as and when we have relevant information to report.
Whilst of course we understand that many supporters will be disappointed to see the League One season postponed, it is a decision everybody at the club fully understands and supports given the current situation and continued spread of COVID-19.
As you have no doubt seen reported in the press, it was decided on Monday afternoon 16th March, at a meeting between the Rugby Football League and the Super League that all rugby activities scheduled to take place from this weekend (21th-22nd March) until 3rd April 2020 be postponed across all competitions including the Championship, League 1, Betfred Women’s Super League and the community game.
As of today, these are the two Skolars fixtures that will be affected:
- Sunday 22nd of March – Hunslet – away
- Saturday 28th of Match – Newcastle – home
All match tickets and hospitality packages for the game against Newcastle Thunder will remain valid for the rearranged fixture. Until the game is rescheduled, supporters are advised that refunds will not be available.
As a Club and as citizens, we all have a responsibility to help prevent further spread of the virus. With immediate effect the following measures will be in place at London Skolars:
- Offices at New River Stadium N22 London will be closed until 31st of March at the earliest. Staff will be working remotely from home until then. For medias and sales enquiries please email tanialeite@skolarsrl.com. Community requests please email kevflanagan@skolarsrl.com. For general enquiries please email info@skolarsrl.com.
- The London Skolars Superstore will also be closed. Supporters can still buy merchandise online.
- Training sessions (at all level) have been suspended until the 3rd of April 2020.
As a club we will of course keep our supporters updated as often as possible and we thank you for your continued understanding and support.
The postponement of games will put significant financial pressure on the club with forecasted cash flow severely restricted.
