We are delighted to announce the signing of Welsh international, Dalton Grant. Dalton will join our first team squad and also work as a community coach for the club until the end of the 2020 season.
Head coach, Jermaine Coleman, commented
“We are Really excited to have Dalton onboard. He has had some fantastic experiences at the teams he has played for and the competitions he has played in. He is going to bring a great deal to the team. I think our back line will be really dangerous this year. As long as we can play to our strengths, he is going to have a massive impact on what we do this year.
The 29 year-old previously played for Barrow Raiders, Dewsbury Rams and Crusaders RL in the Super League (while on loan at the club in 2011). He joined London Broncos in 2017 before signing for Bradford Bulls in 2018 where he has played the 2 last seasons. Dalton also played in the 2017 World Cup for Wales and in the WC 2021 qualifiers . More recently, he featured at international level for Wales in the Sydney World Cup 9s (2019).
Here is what Dalton had to say on his move back to London: “Rugby has shaped my life and given me endless opportunities for the past 10 years. I am now ready for a new challenge where I can put my sports degree and rugby experience into action by working with the club and local schools for the next 10 months. With this new challenge I can help younger sportsmen gain opportunities, help develop skills and give something back to the sport. From a playing perspective, I am looking forward to playing with experienced players and also up and coming talent that London Skolars have in the squad. I expect to get some good wins under our belt at the start of the season and see how we progress as a team in the League.
Reacting to his first training session with the Skolars, the 29 year-old said: “All the boys welcomed me straight into the team. I’ve seen some old friends and faces which was nice. I am mainly focused on working hard for the club on and off the pitch”.
Dalton’s first appearance with the Skolars will be at tomorrow’s ‘Capital Challenge’ against Wigan Warriors.
