The club is delighted to announce that Michael Bishay has extended his contract with the Skolars ahead of the 2020 Betfred League One season.
Mikey, aged 26, was born and raised in Staines, where he played his junior rugby league at the West London Sharks. He later joined London Broncos, where he excelled, appearing for the England RL side at junior level. He was promoted to the Broncos first team and made his debut for the club in June 2013 in a thrilling comeback (30-30) draw against Castleford Tigers. He went on to make 20 more appearances for the Super league side. He then spent time with Hemel Stags followed by a short stint at New River Stadium with Skolars on Dual Registration. He joined the team permanently in 2015 after a short spell in Queensland, Australia with the Norths Devil’s. Since he joined the club Michael has made 98 appearances scoring a total of 255 points (28 tries, 72 goals including one drop-goal).

“I am extremely happy that Michael decided to extend his contract for another season. He is an excellent player who brings so much experience to our team. His versatility and understanding of the game mean that he can pretty much slot in at 6, 7, 9 or 13, even at fullback if we need him to. That versatility is invaluable to a team and to a coach. He really understands the process of how we want to play and I am looking forward to see what he brings this year with another season underneath his belt. I am sure he is going to play a vital role in the team”.
The 26 year-old had this to say on this contract extension:
“I am pleased to have signed another year. We had a great middle part to the season last year and showed we can compete with the top teams in the league, we hope to build on that. Another major reason for re-signing was our exciting playing group for the coming season, which has some really good high level experience as well as some exciting youth. I am really excited for the season ahead”.
