Skolars are delighted to announce that fans favourite Rob Thomas and former winger Alex Anthony have both signed at New River for 2016.

The sight of Rob Thomas back in Skolars colours will certainly be a welcome one for the fans. A firm favourite with the New River faithful, the 24 year old prop forward started his career with London Broncos in 2011, playing two Super League games, prior to joining the Skolars in 2012.

After a short-lived spell at League One rivals Hemel Stags, Thomas is delighted to be back at Skolars for 2016. ‘I’m really happy to be back at Skolars’ said Thomas, I’ve really missed the environment that has been created at Skolars and when Jermaine offered me the chance to come back I jumped at the opportunity. I’m looking forward to a big pre-season, working hard with the boys and having a really successful year personally and as a team.

On the signing of Thomas, Head Coach Jermaine Coleman expressed his delight ‘Rob is a superb signing for us, he’s a player that will be well known to all at the club and is one of the League’s most damaging runners with the ball in hand. He has great skills for a prop and I’m excited to see Rob back to his best with us here at Skolars.’ The signing of Rob Thomas adds further size to an already impressive pack of forwards that Coleman has begun to assemble ahead of 2016.

As one Anthony leaves the club to go travelling, James’ brother Alex re-joins Skolars. Another product of the London Broncos Academy, Alex returns to Skolars after a superb season last year out wide for Hemel, where he scored 13 tries in 16 appearances. Alex is a proven try-scorer and is able to play full-back or wing. He will add threat out wide and will be looking to cement his place in what is becoming a very strong squad with further signings to be announced later in the week.
