SKOLARS ANNOUNCE FORMER PLAYER JERMAINE COLEMAN AS NEW HEAD COACH

18th March 2015

London Skolars are today pleased to announce that ex-player and current Hemel Stags Assistant Coach Jermaine Coleman has taken over as the new Head Coach. Jermaine played 116 games for the Skolars from 2004 to 2011 scoring 19 tries and 14 goals. Since leaving the club he has been an Assistant Coach at the Stags under Troy Perkins.

Jermaine has an extensive playing pedigree having played in the professional ranks for 13 years for Gateshead, York, Hunslet, Skolars and Hemel. Originally from Leeds Jermaine has now settled in the Winchmore Hill area with his young family. He is currently working as an Assistant Head at a local comprehensive school.

Hector McNeil Skolars CEO had this to say “I am very pleased Jermaine has agreed to re-join the club. He has extensive knowledge at this level of rugby and has been instrumental in Hemel Stags recent success. He is based locally and having played at the club for so long has always had the Skolars close to his heart. He also knows many of the players well having either played or coached them over the years.

I expect Jermaine will bring a breath of fresh air to the club and get us back on track for this season. He comes at an important time to prepare the club for the upcoming season. The appointment will also add great interest to the opening derby game against Hemel. I am sure this will add a bit of extra spice to proceedings and I would encourage fans to make their way down to what should be a great game”

“I would also like to thank Marcus Tobin, Matt Cuss and Dave Williams for doing such a great job since Joe left. I am sure that Jermaine will be thankful for the support and expertise that all three will bring to him”

Mark Croston Skolars Director of Football had this to say “’Jermaine’s return to the Skolars fold is exciting. He is fully aware of our values and has already shown he has a clear vision for 2015 and beyond. He has the ability to be a highly successful coach and everyone at the club is looking forward to working with him’

Jermaine Coleman Skolars Head Coach had this to say “I am very excited to be coming back to the club as Head Coach. A Head Coach role was the next step for me and I can’t think of anywhere better to take it on than at the Skolars. It’s a great club and has a terrific future especially around the facilities development that is ongoing and the junior development that marks the club apart.

I also think the club has built a unique commercial platform together as well with the start of the season Capital Challenge match against Wigan, Broncos London Clash and backend of season Friday Night Lights. All marquee events that coaches and players want to show case in.”

Jermaine will take over training from this week.
