On Saturday, the London Skolars ‘A’ team reached the Southern Premier grand final by overcoming South London Storm 66-8 in the play-off semi-final at New River Stadium. The sides had already met three times this season with the Skolars coming out on top in all occasions however Storm provided a scare in the cup back in May to show they couldn’t be taken lightly.
There was to be no scare for the north London side this time with them roaring into a 38-4 interval lead. With no let up for Storm in the second half, the Skolars piled on the points making it 66-8 at full time in their favour.
The result means they progress to the Southern Premier grand final which is being held at East London Rugby Club, 3pm kick off. The Skolars take on last year’s premiers Hammersmith Hills Hoists following their semi-final victory over Eastern Rhinos, winning 46-4. The Skolars and Hills Hoists have met twice this year and with honours even at one win each, the grand final promises to be a classic encounter.
