Following on from last year’s successful inaugural event, the LondonRL have added a further element to the day with the addition of a Touch tournament. The competition is open to all teams and clubs based in London & the South East, including RLC clubs, Student Rugby League teams, as well as casual players wishing to team up with friends to play. Entry for teams is £30, which for a squad of 10 costs just £3 each, there is every reason to get down and hopefully cheer the Skolars on to a first home league victory! The day will also include a Masters competition, the first “official” Masters event the Skolars have hosted. Masters Rugby League is 13-a-side contact rugby with some rule modifications changes, including a 5m line rule instead of 10m and different tackle rules depending on the age of the competitor. The age of the players are identified by different coloured shorts. For more information go to: www.rfl.uk.com/community. As well as this, the Bob Evans Memorial Trophy, for services to London Rugby League, will be presented at half time during the Co-operative Championship 1 game between London Skolars and Swinton Lions. The game is the Skolars’ opening home league game and will prove a tough test for coach James Massara’s men. London Skolars Community Manager Paul Thorman enthused, “Last year’s event was a benchmark for the celebration day. With the addition of the Touch competition, through the RFL’s new League for All officers, it provides the Capital’s Rugby League fraternity reason to get out and support their club in the days other activities. It will also allow the Skolars to be hopefully cheered on to a first home league victory by a bumper LondonRL crowd.” To enter a team into the Touch competition, please contact James Quarmby at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
