n a warm sunny Friday afternoon in the City of London ten companies took part in the annual Pcubed City Touch Tournament. The competition was played out on the perfectly manicured lawns of the Honourable Artillery Company.
The tournament has become a regular fixture in the London sporting calendar and the competition was as keen as ever with many team returning from previous years to have a go at securing the coveted title of City Touch Champions.
The ten teams were split into two leagues of five, and over a two and half hour period, in rising temperatures, they battled it out to try and secure a place in the semi-finals. On pitch 1 defending champions Stratton Metals, with only six players, swept away all before them and progressed unbeaten into the semi-finals racking up 20 tries in the process. Bloomberg finished runners up in the same group to also reach the semi-finals where they would face the winners of the group playing on pitch 2.
The semi-finals saw both Stratton and Bloomberg progress to the final, sweeping aside DTZ and Daiwa Capital Markets in the process.
There was no stopping Stratton Metals and twelve more minutes of superb touch rugby saw them clinch the Pcubed City Touch trophy for an amazing third year in succession. Bloomberg, who had won the trophy back in 2010, put up a great fight but went down 2-0 in the final
After a BBQ and some cold beers the presentations were made with Carl Dalby of sponsors Pcubed handing out the winners and runners up medals and trophies.
