The Middlesex University Mens Rugby League 2011 season has come to a conclusion. The club has made some giant strides in its first year and will be looking to capitalise on the momentum created in the past academic year.
The club have played against some well established and prestigious institutions such as Cambridge University, with the Middlesex outfit playing the light blues as part of their preparation for the Varsity match played live on Sky Sports. There have also been several representative players gaining selection to South East students, South students and England students. Middlesex representative players for this year were:
• Aaron Small (South East, South & England Students)
• Jaroslaw Obuchowski (South East & South Students)
• Chris Dodd (South East Students)
As well as the representative honours, 2010/11 was about creating Rugby League players also with the support of London Skolars community staff Neil and Paul Thorman. With the sport being played in the University for the very first time it gave students an opportunity to sample the Rugby League and has created players and fans of the game alike. Moving forward to 2011/12, the club plan to enter the BUCS competition and with the rate of development experience in year one, who knows where Middlesex University Men’s Rugby League will be this time next year!
