CANADA INTERNATIONAL LOUIS ROBINSON SIGNS ON FOR 2019

LOUIS TW

Canadian international and club captain Louis Robinson has put pen to paper on a new London Skolars contract, which will keep him at New River Stadium for the 2019 season. Robinson is the latest in a number of re-signings as the club aims to keep the core of its squad together.

Jermaine Coleman, London Skolars’ Head Coach, commented:

“We’re glad Louis has signed again. He was a big loss last year due to injury. He is the club captain and it will be like signing a brand new player. Looking forward to having him back in the ranks, he has made a positive start to preseason of the back of the World Cup Qualifier with Canada where he performed unbelievably well given the fact that he was out the whole season.”

Robinson, 27, recently represented Canada in their Rugby League World Cup qualifiers in Jacksonville, Florida. Despite an injury-hit 2018 season, the prop is determined to kick on and be an integral part of the squad in 2019. He said:

“I am excited for the forthcoming season, last year was a difficult one due to injuries but I’m working hard to get past those this preseason and hope to show what I can do this year and make a contribution to team. Hopefully on the back of that we can have a successful 2019.”

Now that Robinson has re-signed, he has become immediately available to sponsor for the 2019 Betfred League 1 season. For more information, email Tania Leite at tanialeite@skolarsrl.com or click here.

CHARLIE TW

London Skolars are pleased to confirm the club has re-signed Charlie Lawrence. The London-born half, who can also play at hooker, will remain at New River Stadium through the 2019 season.

Jermaine Coleman, London Skolars Head Coach, commented:

“Charlie is a really skillful player who brings a lot of creativity to the team. He has been playing at this level new for a few years and I think he’s in for a really big year. It’s his really big opportunity to kick on this year and lead the team.”

Lawrence originally joined Skolars in 2015 from rivals Hemel Stags. The 24-year-old admitted seeing the quality of players the club has acquired during the offseason helped sway his decision to re-sign. He said:

“I’m really pleased to have signed another year with the club. I think with the players we have brought in to the club and also re-signed, we can have a really successful season this year and I’m excited to be part of it.”

MIKE TW

Mike Greenhalgh has joined his twin brother, Judd, in re-signing for London Skolars ahead of the 2019 season. The second row has put pen to paper on a new contract which will keep him at New River Stadium for another year.

Jermaine Coleman, London Skolars Head Coach, commented:

“Mike had a disrupted season last year due to injuries and a slow start but when he is fully fit he’s a destructive player. We’re working hard this year on improving the qualities he has and developing the areas of improvement. With a big preseason I expect Mike to be a real leader in our forwards.”

An injury-hit 2018 meant Greenhalgh made just nine appearances for Skolars last season. Now back to full fitness, the 24-year-old is excited about what the new campaign will bring. He said:

“I’m really looking forward to this season. With a few new faces in the squad I think we can do really well. Having discussed the direction of the club I was more than happy to re-sign.”
