Two of the world’s most iconic cities have joined forces in a transatlantic sports partnership, which is a major boost to the sport of Rugby League.
RFL Betfred Championship club Toronto Wolfpack have bought a sizeable minority stake in League 1 club London Skolars. The new partnership also includes an in-kind financial investment alongside ongoing commercial, performance, development and community support. The two organizations will collaborate and share best practice in digital marketing, media, PR and fan engagement.
The ambition and investment will engage and excite potential new investors and partners for London Skolars. It is also expected that key trade links can be formed between Toronto Wolfpack’s partners and the City of London, growing an ever-expanding transatlantic trade platform.
London Skolars majority Owner, Hector McNeil, commented:
“We are hugely excited with Toronto Wolfpack’s investment and partnership; the impact they have had on Rugby League in a short period of time is very exciting, and unprecedented in our game. This financial and business partnership with a fellow key global city will allow us to amplify our own ambitions and work together to elevate through the leagues and establish a club capable of eventually reaching and competing in Super League.
