London Skolars are delighted to announce that winger Omari Caro has signed a new contract. The Jamaica international, who originally joined Skolars in December 2017, has put pen to paper on a deal which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2019 season.

Jermaine Coleman, London Skolars Head Coach, commented:

“We are very pleased that Omari has signed a new deal with the club ahead of the new campaign. He’s an experienced player and that experience is valuable to the team. Omari brings a real professional attitude to training.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see a lot of him last season because he had a lot of injuries but hopefully this year he will be fully fit and we’ll get to see what he has to offer on the pitch. He has had a whole year to adapt to being a part-time player as opposed to a full-time player so I think this year we are going to reap the benefits of that.”

Caro started his Rugby League career at London Broncos, where he made 16 appearances and was named the Super League’s fastest man, before joining Hull Kingston Rovers in 2013. During his time at KCOM Craven Park he scored 20 tries in 26 games and enjoyed two short loan stints at Gateshead Thunder. In 2015 the pacey winger signed for Bradford Bulls, where he spent three years and enjoyed a particularly impressive 2016 season as he racked up 20 tries in 19 appearances, scoring 86 points.

Caro has been capped at international level by the Jamaica National Rugby League team, nicknamed ‘Reggae Warriors’. He made appearances in the 2013 and 2017 Rugby League World Cup qualifiers and played in a test match against France. He also featured in the recent Americas Championship which Jamaica won to secure their place in the 2021 World Cup for the first time ever. In his first season with the Skolars, Caro made ten appearances and scored six tries. He said:

“I’m very happy to have re-signed at Skolars for the 2019 season. Having sat down with Jermaine and spoke about the plans the club have moving forward, it’s something I want to be around for. We underperformed as a team last year and have addressed this so I’m looking forward to the positive reaction from the boys.”
