London Skolars Capital Challenge 2015 is pleased to announce that this year’s Guest of Honour and Key Speaker will be Rugby League and Union legend, Andy Farrell OBE. The former dual code England International will be honouring us by joining us for the prestigious lunch on January 16th and then answering questions in a Q&A style. He will also be in attendance to watch his former team Wigan take on the Skolars after the lunch.
An unstoppable force in Rugby League, Farrell has represented Great Britain 34 times and England 11 times, many as Captain. He also played and captained the legendary Wigan side amassing over 370 appearances. Winning multiple Challenge Cup finals, Grand Finals and World Club Challenge matches. Farrell also appeared in two World Cups including Captaining Great Britain in 1995. Perhaps the pinnacle of his career was winning the Golden Boot as the World’s best player in 2004.
Farrell also has had a fantastically successful career as a player and coach in Rugby Union. As a player he transitioned from being a dominant Rugby League forward to being a dynamic centre and playing for Saracens 28 times including alongside his son Owen and also 8 times for England. Farrell has since transitioned to be Stuart Lancaster’s right hand man in the England Rugby Union coaching team where he is currently enjoying significant success building a strong England team for the Rugby Union World Cup in 2015.
Andy’s career has been highlighted not only by his Captaincy for Britain, England and Wigan, his successful transition to a new sport, but also for his ability to dominate both as a player, coach and as a leader.
Guests of the luncheon will enjoy a delicious three-course meal with wine served in the HAC’s Banqueting Hall and will be entertained by our guest speaker before making the short walk outside to watch the Capital Challenge match. The HAC venue is one of the truly awe-inspiring World venues for Rugby of either code, the event is unique and should not be missed. Wigan fans who haven’t seen their side play at the HAC are encouraged to sample this unique venue.
